Questions worth answering first.

What is a credit?
A unit of work. On the API, one question about one minute of video costs about 360 credits for a first look, and about 870 to read that minute in full with the screen text word for word. A plan spends its credits faster: 2 credits for every credit of work on Creator, Pro and Studio, and 3 on Free. You choose which look, on every call. A 3 second window costs 3 seconds of video, never more.
Does a credit cost the same on every plan?
No, and that is the reason to move up. A million credits is $31.67 on Creator, $26.00 on Pro and $21.80 on Studio. That is about 17 per cent less at each step. A Studio seat is the lowest rate we sell. The plan above is always better value than two of the plan below.
Can I pay per call instead of subscribing?
Yes, in two ways, and both cost more than a plan. You can buy credit for the dashboard and the connector. It never expires, and it is used only after the monthly credits of your plan are gone. Or you can buy API credit for your own software, at a flat $83.33 per million credits. Only API keys spend API credit.
Why is a plan the cheapest way to buy?
Because a plan is a commitment. You pay every four weeks and you get a fixed number of credits. Credit you buy without a plan costs more for each credit of work. Credit for the dashboard and the connector costs more than any plan, and API credit costs a little more than that.
What happens when I run out?
A call returns a clear error. You never get an invoice for overage that you did not agree to. You can upgrade at any time, and the new credits are available immediately. You can also buy credit that is used after the monthly credits. On the API there is automatic top-up, which buys more before the balance reaches zero.
Do unused credits roll over?
The monthly credits of a plan do not. They reset each billing period. If you often finish the period with a large surplus, the smaller plan is probably the right one. Credit that you buy never expires.
Is a second look at the same video charged twice?
No. Results are content-addressed and cached, so a second reading of a window that you already paid for costs a fifth of the original.
How do team seats work?
Studio includes five people and one shared pool of 5 million credits. Each extra seat is $29 a month and adds 1,400,000 credits to the same pool. A team can have up to 25 people. Above that, it is Enterprise. Everyone shares one set of API keys and one video history, so no work is kept apart per person.
Is a seat cheaper than a separate account?
Yes, and the pool is the larger part of why. A seat is the lowest credit rate we sell, a little under the rate of Pro. The difference that matters is that the credits are shared. A quiet week for one person pays for a busy week for another. Two separate Pro accounts cannot lend each other a single credit.
Can transcription stay on our own machines?
Yes, on Enterprise. Transcription runs inside your own deployment and does not call a third-party API. Customers under EU data rules need this. The operations guide tells how to deploy it.
