For dropshippers, media buyers and creative strategists who research TikTok and Facebook ads

PiPiADS vs Playhead: find ads or read them

PiPiADS and Playhead do two different jobs with video ads. PiPiADS is an ad database: you search TikTok and Facebook ads, products, stores and TikTok Shop items, and pay in credits, 30,000 a month on the $49 Basic plan, with 20 credits for each ad you open. Playhead has no database. You paste the link of an ad you found and Playhead takes it apart: the hook, every beat with its start and length, every claim with its second, and the cuts. Playhead is free for 50,000 credits a month, the first paid plan is $19, and an MCP endpoint is on every plan.

The short version

  • PiPiADS Basic costs $49 a month for 30,000 credits and 1 user. Opening one ad costs 20 credits, so the plan opens at most 1,500 ads a month.
  • On the annual toggle PiPiADS Basic is $411 a year, which the page prints as $34.3 a month.
  • PiPiADS finds the ad. Playhead reads the ad: the hook, each beat with its start and length, each claim with its second, and the cuts.
  • Playhead has an MCP endpoint on every plan, the free one included. The PiPiADS pricing page names no MCP endpoint and sells its API through sales.
  • Playhead is free for 50,000 credits a month, and the paid plans are $19, $39 and $109 a month.

What is on this page and on no other

Every page about these products carries the same prices and the same feature lists. These are the facts this one produced itself, and how each one was made.

  • PiPiADS charges 1 credit for each item in a list and 20 credits for each ad opened. The $49 Basic plan holds 30,000 credits, which is 1,500 opened ads, or 1,500 lists of 20 results, or a mix of the two.

What PiPiADS is better at

First, because a comparison that opens with our own advantages is an advertisement rather than a comparison.

  • A database. You can search TikTok and Facebook ads by keyword, product, store or image, and find ads you did not know existed. Playhead cannot do that.
  • TikTok Shop coverage: TikTok Shop ad search, products, stores and a TikTok Shop tracker, according to their home page.
  • Rankings of top products, new products and top stores, which point a dropshipper at a product before any ad is read.
  • An ad tracker that follows 2 brands on Basic, 10 on Advanced, 20 on Flexible and 100 on Enterprise.
  • A video transcript tool that takes an uploaded video and returns hooks, storyboards and script content, sold as an AI tool beside the data plans.

Finding an ad and reading an ad are two jobs

PiPiADS answers which ads exist. Playhead answers what one ad does, second by second.

PiPiADS is a database. You type a keyword, a product or a store, filter by country and date, and get a list of TikTok or Facebook ads. That is how you find the supplement ad that has run for three months, or the store that launched 40 creatives this week. Playhead cannot do any of that. It holds no ads.

Playhead is a reader. The list gives you the ad. It does not tell you what the ad does. For that, a person opens it, pauses at each cut, scrubs back, and writes down the hook, the order of the beats, the claims and when the product first shows. Paste the same link into Playhead and that page of notes comes back with the second of every part.

So the honest answer to "PiPiADS or Playhead" is often both: one to find the ad, one to take it apart.

A Playhead beat sheet. Each row holds a frame, the name of the beat, its start and its length, what is on screen and what is said.
A Playhead beat sheet: one row a beat, each with its frame, its start, its length, the picture and the words.

What a PiPiADS credit buys, and what a Playhead credit buys

Both sell credits. They count different things.

Flexible$180200,00010,000220 brands
Enterprise$9001,000,00050,00010100 brands

A PiPiADS credit is spent on looking: 1 for each item a list returns, 20 for each ad you open. Credits reset each month and do not roll over, according to their FAQ.

A Playhead credit is spent on reading: the first reading of an ad costs the most, and every later question about the same ad costs a fraction of it, because it reads what the first reading found. A longer ad costs more than a shorter one.

The two are not the same unit, so the table below compares what each plan is for rather than a price per credit.

How to use them together

Find in one, read in the other, and brief from the reading.

  1. Find the ads worth reading

Search PiPiADS for your product or your competitor's store. Keep the ads that have run longest, because an advertiser keeps paying for what works.

  2. Copy each ad's link

A TikTok link or a Facebook link. Playhead reads it from the link, so nothing is downloaded on your side.

  3. Read them as one set

Paste up to 10 links into Playhead as one set. Each ad is read blind to the others, and the set is stacked into one comparison with the same fields.

  4. Write the brief from the rows that agree

Where the winners share a hook type, a beat order or a first product second, that is the pattern to brief. Ask follow-up questions on any saved ad later, for a fraction of the first reading.

When to choose PiPiADS instead

Choose PiPiADS when the job is to find ads: which products sell on TikTok this week, which stores run the most creatives, which ads a competitor launched yesterday. A searchable database of ads is the thing it sells, and Playhead has no database at all.

The verdict

Choose PiPiADS when you need to find ads: its database searches TikTok and Facebook ads, products, stores and TikTok Shop from $49 a month. Choose Playhead when you already have the ad and need to know why it works: the hook, every beat with its start and length, every claim with its second. Playhead starts at $0, the first paid plan is $19, and it works in Claude on every plan. Most teams that research ads need both, and Playhead is the cheaper half.

Common questions

Is Playhead a PiPiADS alternative?

Playhead replaces PiPiADS for one job and not for the other. For taking one ad apart, with the hook, each beat, each claim and the cuts at their seconds, Playhead does the job from $0. For searching a database of TikTok and Facebook ads, products and stores, PiPiADS does the job and Playhead does not.

How much does PiPiADS cost?

PiPiADS Basic was $49 a month for 30,000 credits and 1 user on 26 September 2026, shown as a flash sale against $69. Advanced was $99 for 100,000 credits, Flexible $180 for 2 users and Enterprise $900 for 10 users. On the annual toggle Basic was $411 a year.

Does PiPiADS have an MCP server for Claude?

The PiPiADS pricing page and home page, read on 26 September 2026, name no MCP endpoint. The pricing page offers an API through Contact Sales. Playhead has a hosted MCP server on every plan, the free one included.

Is there a free PiPiADS alternative?

For finding ads, TikTok's own Creative Center and Ad Library are free. For reading an ad you found, Playhead is free for 50,000 credits a month, and the first analyses need no account.

Can I use PiPiADS and Playhead together?

Yes, and the two do not overlap much. PiPiADS finds the ads that run longest for a product or a store. Playhead takes each one apart, so the brief for your next ad can name the hook, the beat order and the claims it borrows.
